Fahrtenheft keeps your input with SwiftData, the iOS data store, inside the app's protected container on the device. For each trip that means the date, the odometer reading on departure and on arrival, start and destination, the purpose, the category "Geschäftlich" (business), "Arbeitsweg" (commute) or "Privat" (private), for business trips the business partner visited and, if you record a detour, the route taken.
Alongside those fields the app notes when the entry was made, the make, model and registration the vehicle had at that moment, the SHA-256 checksums of the chain and, for a correction or a void, a pointer to the entry concerned together with your reason. When a logbook copy is loaded, the app permanently stores when that happened, the date of the copy and how many trips it held. A handful of settings are kept as well, such as whether the lock is on and when you last saved a logbook copy.
The checksum and count of the newest entry and the records of loaded logbook copies are also kept as a small item in the iOS Keychain. It consists only of checksums, counts and dates, holds no places, purposes or registration numbers, stays on the device and is never sent anywhere. Unlike the rest of the app's data it usually survives deleting the app, so that a reinstalled Fahrtenheft can carry the records forward; iOS does not guarantee this.
Photos, contacts, camera, microphone, health data and location services play no part in the app, which is why iOS will never ask you to grant access to any of them.
Content from Fahrtenheft reaches another place only in the cases below, and each of them starts with something you do or a setting you chose with Apple.
"Hand over" produces a spreadsheet (CSV), a print copy (PDF) or a logbook copy (JSON). The file is written only when you ask for it and is passed to the iOS share sheet. Whether it then goes to the Files app, into an email, to your accountant or to a cloud drive is entirely your call. The files are not encrypted, so anyone who receives one can read it.
When Apple backs up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, that backup can take in Fahrtenheft's data too. Whether it does is governed by your Apple settings rather than by the app. Apple's own description of iCloud Backup.
Tapping a link to Apple, to a supervisory authority or the email address passes it to iOS, which opens Safari or your mail app. Only that app then goes online, under its provider's rules.
Purchase, download and updates are handled by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy. If your iPhone settings allow analytics to be shared with app developers, Apple gives the developer aggregated statistics and crash reports. Fahrtenheft gathers nothing for this itself.
Both features are off after installation. You turn them on in the "Logbook" sheet.
If you write to alex@bukhalov.com, the developer receives your address, your message and any attachments. They serve only to answer you; the legal basis is the legitimate interest in dealing with your enquiry under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The correspondence is deleted once your enquiry is settled and no follow-up questions are to be expected, unless a statutory retention duty requires otherwise. You may object to this processing at any time under Art. 21 GDPR. You will hardly ever need to include real trips or a whole logbook copy. On request the developer tells you which correspondence with you he holds, or deletes it.
The GDPR grants you rights of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Since you alone hold the entries, you exercise most of them directly in the app:
You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority under Art. 77 GDPR, for example where you live, where you work or where the alleged infringement took place. In Germany the authorities of the federal states oversee private providers; the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information keeps a list of all their addresses. Outside Germany, the authority in your own country is the one to turn to; in the United Kingdom the corresponding rights under the UK GDPR apply, and complaints go to the Information Commissioner's Office. Contacting the developer beforehand is welcome but not required.
Fahrtenheft is not aimed at children and collects no data from anyone, children included.
For users in California: no personal information within the meaning of the California Consumer Privacy Act is sold or shared. The app collects none; the developer holds only emails you chose to send him.
The controller under the GDPR for the data described under "Emails to the developer" is Aleksei Bukhalov, reachable at alex@bukhalov.com. The developer does not process the entries in the app, because they never reach him. The remaining provider details are in the legal notice.
